PTA Inpatient

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide inpatient rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, transfers, and functional independence during their hospital stay.

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility interventions.
• Assist patients with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, and stair training.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and report changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist.
• Assist with safe use of walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and other assistive devices.
• Educate patients and caregivers on mobility, exercises, safety, and home programs.
• Follow appropriate precautions for fall risk, weight-bearing status, lines, tubes, and other patient restrictions.
• Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation in the EMR.
• Communicate patient progress with the Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and hospital policies.

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Active PTA license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent PTA experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise, mobility training, transfers, and rehabilitation techniques.
• Excellent communication, clinical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with medically complex and hospitalized patients.
• Experience with EMR systems preferred.

• Previous inpatient hospital or acute care experience.
• Experience with orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, geriatric, and post-surgical patients.
• Familiarity with fall precautions, weight-bearing restrictions, and acute-care safety protocols.
• Strong teamwork and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
