Job SummaryThe Seasonal Quality Assurance Plant Monitor Technician is responsible for performing daily testing of seed to ensure the highest quality of cottonseed before, during, and after processing. The focus will be on conformance to standards, appearance ratings, and trait confirmation. This position involves collaboration with other site personnel to produce and deliver top-quality planting seeds and may include work in the QA Lab for fuzzy seed testing.
Job Description- Regularly monitor the quality of seed, including checks for immaturity, cracks, and seed color.
- Ensure the proper setting of seed cleaning equipment such as gravity tables and color sorters.
- Conduct appropriate seed quality tests in the lab to ensure accuracy and conformance to standards.
- Perform calibration of equipment and document results on the appropriate forms.
- Test for acid concentration on seeds as part of the quality control process.
- Accurately enter data in the plant monitoring daily spreadsheet to track quality metrics.
- Conduct sampling of both bagged and bulk seed as directed.
- Verify that final production meets quality standards before shipment, including checking production equipment settings and inspecting transport vehicles.
- Help prevent cross-contamination by assisting with variety cleans.
- Follow all OSHA safety rules and regulations, including confined space procedures, LOTO, and ladder safety.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure the highest quality of work and seed production.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including seed equipment and lab spaces.
- Be cross‑trained in the Cottonseed Quality Assurance Lab and provide support as needed in both the lab and plant setting.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Site Manager, Plant Manager, or Shift Supervisor.
- Mechanical abilities and equipment repairs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Computer proficiency, including data entry.
- Must be able to lift and handle 50lb bags as needed.
- Preferred experience in Quality Assurance and an agricultural background.
- Shift: 5:00PM - 5:30AM Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday work.
- High school diploma or GED
- $22 per hour + shift differential
