Position Overview
The Public Information Officer will serve as a liaison between the organization and the public to maintain a positive image of the organization.
Compensation- $80,000.00
Include the following, but are not limited to:
- Acts as the organization’s spokesperson and responds to members of the media promptly; composes, reviews, and/or distributes press releases.
- Promotes the organization’s public image through interactions with business, industry, and local leaders.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop a public information strategy and guidelines for the organization.
- Schedules public events such as speaking engagements and facilities tours.
- Oversees external, public-facing communication and branding in various online and print platforms such as Linked In, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and industry magazines.
- Prepares and distributes public outreach mailings such as holiday cards, magazines, brochures, newsletters, and similar efforts.
- Produces, reviews, and/or distributes print and video materials for public distribution.
- Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with members of the media and with local civic organizations.
- Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important public messages.
- Schedules and plans for special events that are open to the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for external publications.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership.
- Education or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to succeed in the position.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
- Preference given to a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
