Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) provides nursing care to patients with mental health, behavioral, and emotional disorders. The RN assesses patients, develops and implements care plans, administers medications, monitors patient progress, and collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support recovery and treatment goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' mental and physical health status.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
• Monitor patients for behavioral changes, safety concerns, and crisis situations.
• Conduct suicide risk assessments and implement safety precautions as needed.
• Document patient care, treatment progress, and observations accurately.
• Provide therapeutic communication and emotional support to patients and families.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families regarding mental health conditions, medications, and coping strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and facility standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
