ShiftFull‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
General DescriptionAn OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory I works under general supervision, providing high‑quality care to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The RN reflects the OU Health Way through core values of putting patients first, pursuing relentless excellence, showing integrity, seeking inclusion, learning, and valuing teamwork. RN I represents a nurse who is a novice or advanced beginner advancing toward competence;
the nurse relies on rules rather than principles until professional experience allows formulation of independent principles.
- Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
- Assume responsibility for assigned patient(s) within the clinic/service.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe manifestations, and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care safely and competently.
- Resolve patient complaints promptly per policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Inform patients and families of clinic procedures and share care plans at treatment and discharge.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Engage in continuous mentorship, coaching, and professional certification/licensure to develop nursing proficiency.
- Develop a professional career plan and set personal performance goals aligned with enterprise metrics, measuring progress with department leadership.
- Promote an inclusive workforce that values diversity and maximizes individual differences to achieve OU Health’s vision.
- Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.

- RN I:
- Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
0–3 years as a Registered Nurse. - License/Certification:
Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN (eNLC). - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
3+ years as a Registered Nurse. - License/Certification:
Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN (eNLC). - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
- Specialty certification(s) preferred.
- Education:
- Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
- Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements constructively.
- Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.

- Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
