Position Title:

Nurse Educator – Stephenson Cancer Center

Department:
Training

Under general supervision, performs professional work in all phases of a comprehensive staff development and training program for an assigned unit. Responsibilities
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and document staff development and in-service activities.
  • Develop criteria to evaluate staff needs and measure the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate competency development, verification, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate nursing orientation program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quality improvement activities and assess implementation of age- and culturally appropriate care programs.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the Preceptor Program.
  • Coordinate CPR training that meets American Heart Association requirements and complies with TJC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • At least 3 years of patient care experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC).
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.

  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
  • Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
  • Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements constructively.
  • Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Creativity and innovation in program development.
  • Ability to work independently and research materials when developing educational sessions.
  • Ability to read and critique research findings for application in practice.
  • Computer proficiency.
