Overview
Amy Youth Works – Oklahoma Conservation Corps (AYW OKCC) Summer Conservation Program offers a paid Ameri Corps opportunity to work on local habitat restoration projects. Positions are available for Crew Leaders and Crew Members starting June 1 through July 31. The program is offered in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service at the Ouachita National Forest near Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (subject to change) - Hours:
300 hours total in a nine‑week Ameri Corps term
- Crew Leaders: $2,720 per month ($1,360 semi‑monthly)
- Crew Members: $2,400 per month ($1,200 semi‑monthly)
- Crew Members:
No high school diploma or GED required - Crew Leaders:
High school diploma or GED required
- Segal Ameri Corps Education Award for qualified student loans, higher education, and training programs
- Student Loan Forbearance
- Technical and Fundamental skills training
- Opportunity to network with partnering agencies
- Frequently walk and hike long distances while carrying tools
- Operate tools
- Heavy lifting, bending, and carrying up to 35–50 pounds depending on crew type
- Work on steep or uneven terrain
- Work long days in adverse weather conditions
- Hitch, camp, and travel as required for an entire Ameri Corps term
Preferred Qualifications Required
- Ages 17+ for Crew Members and 21+ for Crew Leaders
- U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent U.S. Resident
- Pass a National Service Criminal History Check
- For Crew Leaders:
- High school diploma or GED
- Clear 3‑year driving record
- Prior experience in conservation, camping, backcountry travel, or related fieldwork
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather while performing demanding labor with hand and power tools
- Function as part of a team and get along with members of all backgrounds and experience levels
- Strong service ethic and commitment to completing an entire term of service with a desire to serve the community and the environment
- For Crew Leaders:
Ability to hike 3–12 miles per day in rugged terrain, often wearing a 45‑lb backpack and carrying tools
