Position: Cook 1 | CatBird Seat Pool Bar (Seasonal)

Location

Come and join our team at this 605-room convention center hotel in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Our luxury hotel is located next to the Paycom Center(OKC Thunder), the Oklahoma Convention Center and across the street from the 70-acre Scissortail Park.

The property includes an all-day dining outlet (Seltzer’s Modern Diner), an entertainment sports bar (OKC Tap House), specialty restaurant (Bob’s Steak & Chop House), coffee shop (Park Grounds) and a retail outlet (Rare Bird Gift Shop). Additionally, guests can enjoy a Mokara Spa, fitness center and a rooftop pool and bar (Cat Bird Seat) complete with a fire pit, outdoor lawn and cabanas.

The hotel offers 76,000 square feet of meeting and event space inclusive of a 20,000 square foot ballroom, 10,000 square foot ballroom, and a 4,200 square foot outdoor pre-function space that overlooks the park.

Job Description

An amazing opportunity to be a pivotal part of a fabulous Omni convention collection hotel! The Production Cook 1 will provide technical and administrative assistance to the Executive Chef and ensures effective operation of the kitchen and food production outlet serving our Cat Bird Seat Pool Bar.

Responsibilities
  • Required to learn all menu items produced by assigned station.
  • Independently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and to the company specifications.
  • The ability to identify and inspect all food products for quality.
  • Follow all storage procedures when taking food out of walk-in and when returning food to walk-in.
  • Safely and properly use all culinary equipment.
  • Must have a solid and demonstrated understanding of cooking skills and techniques.
  • Ensure station is set for service 15 minutes prior to service.
  • Perform work assignments to meet proper quantities within a necessary time frame.
  • Keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to Health Department and Eco Sure standards always.
  • Attend department meetings and other company required training.
  • Complete other duties assigned by management.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work on an outlet hot/cold line executing menu items in the specified timeline for each meal period.
Qualifications
  • Required to have at least 4 years culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
  • Must be able to work efficiently without needing immediate supervision from management.
  • Must be familiar weights and measures in order to follow and multiply standard recipes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced high pressure work environment while executing delegated tasks and assignments.
  • Culinary degree and/or formal training preferred.
  • Food Handlers certification required.
  • Must live within 50 miles of the hotel.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry moderate weight. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time, with frequent bending and twisting.
  • Must be able to utilize culinary tools (knives, commercial equipment, etc.) and taste/smell.
Working Environment
  • Interior of hotel in restaurant and kitchen areas with exposure to humidity, steam and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals.
Tools & Equipment
  • Cooking utensils and equipment.
