Overview

The Store Manager oversees the store's sales efforts in each department and supervises the store's overall operation to ensure efficiency and profitability. Enforces and upholds the organization's policies, goals, and standards to the sales team to meet sales goals. Communicates with the District Sales Manager and the Store Support Center to drive initiatives and business growth. Represents the company's brand in appearance, attitude, and professionalism to employees, customers, and the community.

The Store Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise.

  • Drive store sales and sales goals with a focus on company growth.
  • Manage and control store assets and operations.
  • Direct and oversee all store sales efforts; train and mentor store associates in sales strategies and skills.
  • Monitor store performance across sales statistics, inventory, and expenses to optimize profit.
  • Collaborate with the District Sales Manager to establish and enforce policies, goals, and procedures.
  • Lead staff to ensure all department responsibilities and standards are met.
  • Mentor and develop a team of Sales Associates, Assistant Managers, and Managers in Training.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, discipline, and evaluation; manage payroll and scheduling to meet labor goals.
  • Maintain store security and partner with Asset Protection to prevent theft and shrink.
  • Communicate inventory movement and drive inventory goals and strategies with the District Sales Manager.
  • Provide information and execute on marketing and advertising plans; stay informed of customer trends.
  • Monitor competition and community events to identify opportunities.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers during peak periods.
  • Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls and reporting potential fraud risk to management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manages subordinate supervisors and non-management employees, including Sales Associates, Hub Drivers, Assistant Managers, and Managers in Training.
  • Provides direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit; conducts hiring, training, and performance management as required by policy and law.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel;
  • Experience in managing and cultivating a sales team.
  • 3-5 years of customer service experience; 3+ years of management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; analytical thinker with business acumen.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities; commitment to customer service.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
