Compensation and BenefitsCompensation: $55,000.00
Benefits include a percentage of matching contributions to retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and eligible dependents.
Position is assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, controls, fixtures and related equipment in facilities.
Typical Functions- Services, maintains and repairs HVAC systems that control temperature, humidity, air‑flow and air‑filtering in all types of commercial and light‑commercial buildings.
- Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Performs scheduled and routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure life‑cycle operation of these systems.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, equipment and refrigerant logs, etc.) to document activities and convey information.
- Orders and maintains equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of items required to complete installations and repairs.
- Informs supervisor of work‑order status to provide information for purchasing and scheduling decisions.
Current Mechanical Journeyman license
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and CompetenciesKnowledge of operation of a variety of heating, air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems; methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment used in maintenance; and standard safety precautions in the trade. Ability required to maintain and repair various types of heating, refrigeration and air‑conditioning equipment; ability to install components and provide guidance and training to assigned work crews.
Special RequirementsLicenses/Certificates required:
Mechanical Journeyman
- Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (over 95°F and below 20°F).
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.
- Contingent on passing a pre‑employment drug & alcohol screening.
- Considered essential personnel (work during inclement weather).
- Available to work if called in due to an emergency.
- Non‑exempt FLSA status.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Tobacco and vape‑free facility.
- Mechanical Journeyman license and EAP certification or the ability to obtain these within the first 12 months of employment.
- Travel throughout the state is required, including overnight stays.
- T1 security clearance (eligibility for national security positions granted to U.S. citizens).
- This position is federally funded and contingent on continuous federal funding.
