Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre‑accident condition. The Technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles, supports repair‑facility KPIs, and serves as a Brand Ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Key Job Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor damage; mix and apply filler resin when needed.
- Realign chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts; repair glass and windshields.
- Replace or repair interior parts as necessary.
- Weld and attach or fit parts; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified or equivalent paint.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines; inspect vehicles after repair to ensure quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with other repairers in an auto body shop.
- Understand methods and procedures for repairing vehicle bodies.
- Understand how to use the required tools for the trade.
- Work safely in a noisy area with odors.
- Lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Perform bends, stretches, kneeling, and squatting to carry out repairs and inspections.
Hourly wage $21.00 – $30.00 flat rate, performance‑based structure tied to turned or booked hours. Compensation is commensurate with skill, education, and experience and may include bonus opportunities linked to individual or business initiatives.
