Job Title: Transportation Services Dispatcher
Credentials: Class "B" CDL with Passenger/School bus endorsements, or must be able to complete within 90 days of hire. Training will be provided.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Training or Experience required: 1-5 years related field work experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions- Keep accurate daily records of all calls.
- Adhere to all State, National, and Board policies as it relates to student transportation.
- Notify schools and patrons of late arriving buses, accidents, breakdowns by using the district's notification system.
- Monitor vehicle locations utilizing computerized satellite systems.
- Screen daily phone communications.
- Overview of the fleet capabilities regarding breakdowns and incident response.
- Coordinate all radio communications.
- Key liaison between Emergency Management Services and Transportation Services involving vehicle location and movement during high priority events.
- Video monitor Transportation Services location for security purposes including maintaining visitor login/logout records and issuing badges.
- Create and maintain dispatch (SOP) Standard Operating Procedures.
In addition to the above listed duties, this position will also include all primary and collateral duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSuccessful performance of the job requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. The candidate must comply with safety guidelines and policies, follow district dress standards, attendance and leave policies, and exhibit effective problem‑solving, creativity, initiative, and teamwork. The role involves operating and supporting computer systems, providing training and support to staff, and managing the computerization of district operations.
The position requires physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs, and the use of both hands for repetitive actions. The applicant must have adequate visual and hearing/speaking abilities, mental capacity to understand safety procedures, and the ability to work outdoors under varying temperature conditions while maintaining calmness and patience.
