Tax Accountant II
Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Tax Accountant II to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our tax operations while enjoying a flexible work environment. The ideal candidate will be within a 2.5-3 hour radius of our Norristown, PA office for occasional in-person meetings.
As a Tax Accountant II, you will play a vital role in our tax department with the following:
- Main responsibilities will be sales & use tax and personal property tax compliance for assigned jurisdictions.
- Filing returns, making payments, performing monthly account reconciliation and audit for all transactional taxes.
- Assist in researching exemptions and developing tax positions.
- Drive process improvement.
- Maintaining departmental control charts for his/her jurisdictions.
- Staying current on transactional tax law changes and regulations.
- Interfacing and participating on projects with Senior Indirect Tax Management.
- Supporting Tax Manager on ad hoc projects.
- Developing and analyzing data.
- Preparing monthly journal entries to reverse and accrue for proper taxation as well as allocating entries to accrue use tax to correct jurisdictions and legal entities.
- Making and developing improvement strategies for transactional tax processes.
- Active participant on assigned Innovation Projects.
- Ensuring accurate, timely analysis of reconciliations including Blackline.
- Maintaining effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Providing support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Equivalent Experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred.
Required
Work Experience:
- At least a year of prior Sales & Use tax experience in a multi-entity, multi-state organization.
- Public accounting background is a plus.
Knowledge:
- PC fluency with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel, Access, Vertex Tax Software, and ERP systems as well as the ability to manage large data sets in Excel and Access.
