The Nursing Lab Assistant assists faculty and students by organizing supplies, maintaining a safe and clean learning space, and helping ensure that lab activities run smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up, clean, organize, and return laboratory equipment and reusable supplies as directed by nursing faculty.
• Help maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment; notify the appropriate faculty when items need to be ordered, repaired, replaced.
• Assist faculty prepare instructional materials, skills stations, forms, checklists, and other resources as requested by nursing faculty or program leadership.
• Provide courteous assistance to students using the lab, including helping them locate supplies.
• Participate in lab organization projects, annual inventory, and preparation for accreditation or program review activities as needed.
• Basic knowledge of nursing skills equipment, infection control practices, medical terminology, and safe handling of supplies, preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, maintain organized work areas, and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic scheduling or inventory systems.

The Nursing Lab Assistant reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing, Nursing Faculty, Administrative Assistant

• Basic knowledge of nursing skills equipment, infection control practices, medical terminology, and safe handling of supplies, preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, maintain organized work areas, and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift or move equipment and supplies as required for lab setup and breakdown.
• Ability to safely handle clinical training equipment, supplies, simulated bodily fluids, and cleaning materials according to established procedures.
• Work is typically performed in a nursing skills lab, simulation lab, classroom, or office environment.
