Job DescriptionGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The position of Maintainer I is responsible for performing general janitorial, custodial and minor repair work in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of a building, or a group of buildings.
DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Cleans offices, rooms, corridors and other spaces in campus buildings by following proper cleaning techniques and procedures in order to assure appropriate cleanliness safety standards. Required duties include the following:
- Cleans carpets, waxes, polishes and buffs floors; maintains equipment associated with these cleaning functions.
- Washes windows, woodwork, toilets, lavatories, washrooms and fixtures, appliances, dusts and polishes furniture.
- Empties and cleans waste barrels, garbage cans and other waste and trash receptacles; transports waste to dumpster and maintains area surrounding dumpster.
- Sweeps and cleans walks, rakes leaves, shovels snow, picks up trash and generally assists in keeping immediately adjacent outside premises in an orderly condition.
2. Moves furniture and may be required to receive and disburse deliveries by hand or hand-truck to assure appropriate and secure placement and/or storage.
3. Organizes and maintains appropriate supply of cleaning supplies and equipment by conducting regular inventories and submitting requisitions for replacements to the designated supervisor.
4. Locks and unlocks premises and performs other similar security tasks to assure the safety of the building.
5. Makes general repairs of a simple nature using various hand tools to assure a well-maintained building; reports other repair problems and needs to the designated supervisor using established procedures.
Job RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE
This is a full-time, permanent position within the AFSCME Union. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm. Salary for this position is $44,375.24 per year.
