Retail Sales Associate; Part-time, Onsite

MASS MoCA’s gift shop is seeking a part‑time Sales Associate. The Sales Associate will report to the Gift Shop's Manager & Buyer and work closely with other retail staff. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills as well as self‑motivation, basic math, and careful attention to detail. The MASS MoCA gift shop is a key part of the visitor services experience and operates as a source of information to visitors beyond the range of products offered.

Part‑time

2–3 days per week, with Saturday and Sunday availability required.

• Cheerfully greet customers and provide suggestions and product information.
• Clean store fixtures and maintain attractive merchandise displays.
• Open and close the store, operating the POS system and cash drawer.
• Organize overstock and replenish store displays as needed.
• Organize and affix price tags to new incoming shipments of products.
• Take initiative to learn about the history of MASS MoCA and its current and past exhibitions and performances in order to answer customer questions.

• Candidates must be friendly, patient, computer‑savvy, a self‑starter, and confident to work independently when needed.
• Knowledge of the North Adams area and customer service experience are preferred.
• Hours:
  
  8 to 24 hours per week.
• Retail Sales Associates are required to work regular weekend shifts as well as holidays, evenings, and festivals when needed.

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to wear PPE as necessary.

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

As defined by the National Labor Relations Act, this position is part of the bargaining unit for UAW Local 2110.

• This position is a part‑time, non‑exempt, represented position.
• Hourly rate $19.50.
