Youth Support Worker

The Youth Support Worker provides youth programming, individual and family support, and resource navigation through the nbCC Family Resource Center (FRC), in the community, and in schools and homes, as appropriate. The position also assists youth with connecting to health, human service, and other resources that address social determinants of health.

Annual Salary: $42-44k

Responsibilities:

(include but are not limited to)

  • Support positive youth development in northern Berkshire and build meaningful, healthy, and empowering relationships with youth and families.
  • Co-facilitate youth development programs, including the Youth Leadership Program, Teen Writing Workshop, Youth Empowerment Program, and other youth support or educational programming, as assigned.
  • Assist with youth recruitment, program planning and facilitation, service-learning projects, youth interns, publications, special events, trips, and other program activities, as appropriate.
  • Partner with youth and families to identify strengths and needs, develop supportive connections, complete intake and related documentation, and connect with community resources and services.
  • Support individual youth who walk in to nbCC offices with navigating health and human service systems, addressing social determinants of health needs, and connecting to appropriate services, benefits, programs, and community resources.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with youth and families served, including in-person visits and follow-up communication, and maintain required releases of information and confidentiality.
  • Complete and maintain accurate client and program documentation and data required for nbCC and FRC database systems.
  • Complete nbCC monthly program reports, annual program reviews, and annual program planning for assigned areas of work.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement and connect community members with nbCC programs and resources.
  • Participate in work groups, committees, and collaborative efforts addressing emerging needs of youth and the community.
  • Support and attend nbCC events, activities, and programs designated as all-hands-on-deck or as assigned.
  • Attend required supervision, staff meetings, and professional development; maintain accurate calendars, client records, mileage, expenses, and other required documentation.
  • Integrate health equity, anti-racism, and community-driven decision-making into the work and comply with nbCC policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree preferred, with 1-3 years of experience working with youth or within a human service or community-based setting.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, human service and health systems, schools, and community-based providers.
  • Experience supporting individuals and families with complex needs and making appropriate referrals and resource connections.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups with cultural humility, maturity, compassion, and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
  • Comfort with computers, data entry, documentation, and working independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
