Maintenance Position
The North Attleborough Housing Authority, located at 20 South Washington Street, is seeking a full-time member for its maintenance team. The ideal candidate has previous experience, works responsibly and self‑motivated, effectively organizes time and tasks, prioritizes and plans work, and communicates well with staff, residents, and contractors.
ResponsibilitiesThe maintenance team is responsible for agency-wide apartment turnovers, preventive maintenance, building and grounds upkeep, and emergency repairs. Maintenance and repair duties include:
- Custodial functions
- Grounds‑keeping, including landscaping and snow removal
- Minimal masonry
- Minor carpentry, plumbing, appliance repairs, and electrical work
- Painting
- Completing work orders in occupied units
- Turnover of vacant units
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Each maintenance employee is responsible for timely response to after‑hours/weekend emergencies on a rotating basis. Snow removal is required and is considered an "all hands‑on deck" effort.
Qualifications- General knowledge of housing maintenance practices, at least two years of work experience with building maintenance and general repairs preferred
- Experience operating hand and power tools
- Experience with motorized equipment and vehicles
- Ability to lift/move heavy objects and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to understand and record written information
- Ability to communicate effectively and process work order documents/paperwork efficiently in the housing authority’s software
- Interact with residents in a responsive, responsible manner
- Willingness to participate in related training opportunities both virtually and in person
- Willingness to work within the housing directives established by the Executive Director, the state’s Office of Housing and Livable Communities, and US Dept of HUD
- Related training or work experience
- Basic computer literacy
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license maintained while employed
Any employment offer is contingent upon a favorable physical exam, criminal record check, and sex offender registry review. The current pay rate for this position is $31.05 per hour.
