Heavy Equipment Operator

GR. D SEWER DEPARTMENT

Position Type: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Pay Range: $24.94 - $31.60 per hour

Working under the direct supervision of the Foreman, performs skilled manual work in the operation of Public Works equipment of substantial weight and complexity for all wastewater department projects and all other related work as required. Required to work beyond and/or before normal shift hours during snow and ice operations and other emergencies. Employees should have demonstrated skill in operating specialized and heavy equipment including backhoe and loader.

Working knowledge of the materials and techniques required for wastewater collection maintenance and to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions.

• High school graduation preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of experience in general construction or Public Works related activities including operation of heavy and specialized equipment.
• Possession of a MA CDL motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Must possess and maintain a MA Hoisting Engineer’s license required.
