Position: Instructional/Academic Success Coach (2026-2027)

Instructional/Academic Success Coach

Focuses on and supports pedagogy across all disciplines to ensure and enhance instructional practices to positively impact teaching and learning to increase student achievement. Provides instructional strategies and best practices through the implementation of the coaching model. Promotes and supports all tiers of instruction utilizing district observation data, formative/summative assessment data, needs assessments, and instructional resources. Supports and provides initial and ongoing professional development to leadership teams and teachers using student assessment data to maximize the state's accountability growth model.

Researches and promotes best practices and assists with differentiation. Provides PLC support on using data to guide instruction. Possesses a strong desire to encourage and support continuous improvement for teacher growth, content delivery, and student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with principal and leadership team to determine targeted instructional needs and to monitor instructional practices and programs
  • Uses data to assist teachers with the implementation of instructional practices with a focus on student engagement and differentiation in Tier 1 instruction
  • Utilizes district observation tools to determine teaching and learning challenges and needs
  • Collaborates to plan and implement instructional practices to enhance teaching and learning
  • Assists teachers with analyzing data for intentional planning and intervention recommendations
  • Provides and models academic coaching for student success
  • Coaches teachers in supporting various needs of students
  • Promotes and demonstrates active student learning strategies across disciplines
  • Participates in school leadership coaching cycles to provide feedback for professional growth
  • Co-teaches with colleagues to demonstrate and model lessons and assists with planning highly engaging lessons
  • Monitors continuous improvement of the delivery of teaching and learning with a focus on student growth
  • Participates in school or district staff development opportunities programs to ensure continuous growth and improvement
  • Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees as requested, and accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular or other activities as assigned by the principal
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Job Specifications Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree (Masters Preferred) 3-5 years Successful Teaching Experience Previous Experience in Instructional/Academic Coaching Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid SC Teaching Certificate Read to Succeed Endorsement

Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and instructional manuals. Ability to design and write professional development plans, reports, and data entry procedures. Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

Ability to identify student adjustment and/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate remedial action to parents. Ability to provide instruction to ESOL students through explanation, demonstration and/or supervised practice. Ability to supervise students and maintain order in various classroom and instructional activities and situations. Recognizes and follows the appropriate procedures in the "chain of command" as designated by board policies and/or administrative procedures.
