Job SummaryRegistered nurses provide quality nursing services by working with the patient care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients' care and to provide a positive, supportive environment. The registered nurse is the front-line representative of the patient care team, often serving as the intermediary between the patient and family, the provider(s), and other care team members. This role is expected to: participate in performance improvement initiatives;
maintain professional competence; develop others; uphold confidentiality, safety, and professional standards; and support shared governance through service on councils or sponsored activities.
- Patient Care and Care Coordination:
Monitor, examine, and evaluate patient conditions; assist with care plans; apply independent judgment; collaborate and communicate care plans; prioritize patient flow; deliver safe and effective care; maintain documentation. - Patient Advocacy and Satisfaction:
Listen to concerns, probe in-depth, respond appropriately; educate patients and families; communicate necessary patient information to staff; uphold patient- and family-centered care; maintain confidentiality. - Performance Improvement:
Seek opportunities to improve the work environment and processes; contribute ideas and support change implementation; support improvement initiatives toward better quality outcomes, satisfaction, and financial performance. - Professional Competency and Growth:
Maintain licenses and certifications; complete required training; identify and manage development opportunities; stay current with research and best practices; pursue professional growth and leadership development. - Professional Leadership:
Mentor and precept; contribute to a positive environment; adhere to confidentiality, safety, and standards; demonstrate professionalism and shared governance; hold self and others accountable; promote nursing profession and assist recruitment. - Other duties as assigned; comply with all Wellstar Health System policies and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
- BLS Instructor or BLS or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-Compact (Multi-state Compact)
