Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Specialist to support both outpatient and inpatient settings within Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. The role requires coordination among physicians, medical staff, patients, families, and various hospital departments to ensure timely, high‑quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in outpatient clinic by rooming patients, managing the Nurse Desktop, and performing routine duties.
  • Support physicians during inpatient rounds, including patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Coordinate communications with referring physicians, specialists, patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes, and insurance carriers.
  • Document responses to patient history/screening questions for provider use during assessments and examinations.
  • Operate computer documentation systems in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Monitor patients with chronic conditions, provide education, and facilitate appropriate transitions of care to reduce readmission risks.
  • Prioritize physician workload across inpatients, observation patients, and emergency department arrivals.
  • Relay information between providers and clients, including accurate documentation of provider advice, orders, and results.
  • Respond to department‑specific emergencies in the Heart Center and Cath Lab with appropriate ACLS treatment.
  • Review patient records for complete documentation and compliance with Core Measures, Quality Metrics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct rounds on assigned inpatients to assess treatment response, test results, family concerns, and readiness for discharge, and communicate findings to physicians.
  • Support marketing of the program to internal and external customers and primary care providers.
Qualifications
  • ADN (or equivalent) required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) registration in Illinois required.
  • Acquired ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS or CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly pay ranges from $35.43 to $54.92, based on experience.
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
