Overview

Security Guard performs fixed‑post, mobile, or foot patrols, maintaining situational awareness and acting per established post orders, facility rules, and protocols. Duties may include work in austere and uncomfortable conditions, inclement weather, and standing, walking, searching, surveillance, or sitting duties essential to the security functions.

Pay: $19.71/hr + $5.09/hr Health & Wellness.

Must hold a state‑issued guard card before being hired.

Responsibilities
  • Inform supervisors and managers of unusual occurrences and important events per post orders.
  • Monitor alarms, radio traffic and other information sources; dispatch or inform others as needed.
  • Report and address fire alarms, burglary alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts including vandalism, theft, illegal entry, suspicious behavior, domestic or workplace violence, threats, speed or other vehicle violations, illegal drug use, and inappropriate use of facility or client equipment.
  • Screen, stop, and inspect vehicles and pedestrians entering or exiting the facility.
  • Prevent passage of prohibited articles and escort individuals or vehicles as directed.
  • Use portable radios, phones, or other communication devices per established rules.
  • Monitor all APSI and client equipment; guard against loss or damage; report any loss or damage immediately.
  • Log authorized property/equipment movements using Property Pass numbers.
  • Ensure security of government property, detain personnel, and report unauthorized removal of property or equipment.
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities.
  • Issue vehicle passes for authorized personnel.
  • Monitor electronic access control and RFID systems; respond to alarms indicating unauthorized removal.
  • Grant access during non‑working hours to authorized personnel per procedure and access lists.
  • Monitor facility equipment and utility systems; report deficiencies to responsible personnel.
  • Perform random surveillance of buildings and fence lines for unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
  • Provide additional security support for scheduled events or unscheduled emergencies as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintain activity logs and administrative documents as required by contract.
  • Coordinate with local, state, or federal law enforcement; preserve evidence and testify in proceedings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of security/civilian law‑enforcement experience OR an equivalent position with the United States Armed Forces.
  • One year of work experience demonstrating the ability to follow directions, meet attendance requirements, and complete training to certify with the State.
  • Fluent in speaking and writing English.
  • Must pass criminal background screen, drug test, and physical exam.
  • State‑issued Guard card before hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Prior experience with the Glock platform.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical Demands

Rotating shifts, times, days, including night and weekend work.
