Maintenance Technician

Makom, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help ensure our properties are safe, efficient, and welcoming. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining high-quality housing that supports our mission of empowering people to achieve the quality of life they aspire to.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance to ensure buildings, equipment, and systems operate efficiently.

Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural issues using blueprints, manuals, and testing devices.

Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and building components.

Provide groundskeeping services, including landscaping and snow removal.

Conduct unit cleanouts and general property cleaning.

Manage keys for individual units and common areas.

Read, complete, and document work orders, including ordering parts and supplies as needed.

Collaborate with staff to ensure safe, decent, and sanitary housing by reporting deficiencies.

Maintain agency vehicles and track supplies.

Work professionally with contractors, inspecting and supervising projects as needed.

Participate in “on call” rotation for evenings and weekends.

Trade or technical school training in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, or construction, with 5+ years of related experience required.

Knowledge of tools, materials, and construction methods for residential and commercial buildings.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Valid Maryland driver’s license, good driving record, and access to an insured vehicle.

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in diverse indoor/outdoor environments.

$20.00 - $25.00/hour - Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
