Staff Accountant – Payroll & Accounts Payable

Your primary responsibility is simple:

Employees are paid correctly, on time, and in full compliance with applicable laws, while vendors and subcontractors are paid accurately and on schedule.

You will be entrusted with responsibilities that directly impact employee trust, financial accuracy, compliance, and company operations.

• Weekly and bi-weekly payroll processed accurately and on time.
• Vendor and subcontractor invoices entered correctly and paid according to terms.
• Payroll tax filings, certified payroll reporting, and compliance requirements completed accurately and timely.
• Month-end reconciliations completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Employee payroll and benefit questions resolved professionally and consistently.

• Process weekly hourly and bi-weekly salaried payroll.
• Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax with holdings.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, union, prevailing wage, and project-specific payroll requirements.
• Develop expertise in union payroll, certified payroll, and prevailing wage reporting.

• Enter and code vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Schedule and process payments.
• Reconcile accounts payable subledger balances.

• Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Support financial reporting and audit preparation.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

• Assist with employee benefit enrollments and changes.

• 5+ years of payroll, accounting, accounts payable, or related finance experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements.
• Experience processing multi-employee payroll accurately and consistently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage workload independently.

• Construction industry accounting experience.
• Prevailing wage and certified payroll experience.
• Knowledge of Washington State labor and payroll requirements.
• Experience with ERP, payroll, and cloud-based accounting systems.
• Understanding of construction accounting principles and job costing.
