Job SummaryThis position is delegated a wide range of responsibilities related to student supervision and discipline at an Elementary School.
Duties and Responsibilities- Administer and oversee student discipline as delegated by the building principal. Provide immediate feedback to parents, teachers and administrative team; maintain student discipline records on a computer database.
- Collaborate with building staff and admin to implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and positive behavior systems and interventions among all students. Build/foster relationships with students, families, and staff. Assist teams in identifying appropriate support for students' academic, behavioral and social‑emotional needs.
- Oversee and administer tier 1 and tier 2 student supports, including small group and individual supports. Collaborate with teachers to implement behavior/incentive plans and interventions for students.
- May supervise students during a variety of activities including before and after school, during lunch period, and recess; may supervise bus areas and parking lots during bus arrival/departure; may secure other designated areas after school.
- Ensure effective and timely communication with administrators, or other staff and parents/guardians regarding student activities.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development courses.
- May assist with student activity programs; may plan and coordinate school assemblies (e.g. MLK Day, Veteran’s Day); may act as administrative liaison for student planned assemblies.
- Coordinate with and support counseling staff with interventions for students as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Reports to building principal.
Working ConditionsWorks in an office and school environment; frequent interruptions; visual and mental concentration on details is required. May be required to deal with distraught or angry people; works with students with diverse needs and cultural backgrounds. May be required to attend evening events.
Education and ExperiencePossess BA or BS degree in education, social work, psychology, or other relevant field.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to apply knowledge of strategies for working with students; use effective strategies support positive student behavior; manage student behavior consistent with District and school discipline policies and procedures; effectively manage uninvited visitors to the school campus with firmness and tact. Ability to work effectively in a school environment; interact appropriately with youth; model appropriate behaviors; build positive rapport with parents, staff and students;
demonstrate sensitivity towards the needs of students and their parents. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; communicate effectively with students, District staff, parents, and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment; write accurate and detailed reports and records. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Requirements
CPI Training, CPR and First Aid Certification recommended.
Salary$49.78 - $60.23 per hour.
Work Year7.0 Hours, 199 days.
