Quarterly Part Time Associate Faculty - Engineering
Position OverviewFaculty teach engineering courses covering fundamental principles of mechanics, electrical systems, and computer-aided design applications. Faculty develop, teach, and assess courses and contribute to curriculum implementation and enhancement, including participation in college-wide student achievement reviews.
Duties & Responsibilities1. Facilitate a learning-centered environment
- Utilize teaching strategies that facilitate student learning and success
- Prepare clear objectives, course syllabi, materials, and learning experiences for each course
- Teach assigned courses in day, evening, and alternate time blocks as needed
- Maintain appropriate course records and documentation
- Assess student learning
- Identify barriers to student access and success and seek solutions
- Implement assessment measures in compliance with state and federal policy to achieve learning outcomes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge within teaching field
- Incorporate pedagogies that support best learning practices
- Maintain office hours
2. Support the goals and objectives of the college
- Assist in meeting requirements for specific programs
- Remain current in relevant areas
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and community members
- Comply with college policies, rules, and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering or related field, or bachelor’s degree in engineering completed
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in education and the workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing innovative assessment techniques and strategies for classroom assessment
- Successful experience with non-traditional teaching methods and collaborative learning
Physical Work Environment: Positions require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and performing repetitive motions. Work is performed at the campus and local settings. Semi-sedentary work: exerting between 10-30 pounds occasionally or negligible force frequently to move objects.
