Quarterly Part Time Associate Faculty - Engineering

Position Overview

Faculty teach engineering courses covering fundamental principles of mechanics, electrical systems, and computer-aided design applications. Faculty develop, teach, and assess courses and contribute to curriculum implementation and enhancement, including participation in college-wide student achievement reviews.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Facilitate a learning-centered environment

  • Utilize teaching strategies that facilitate student learning and success
  • Prepare clear objectives, course syllabi, materials, and learning experiences for each course
  • Teach assigned courses in day, evening, and alternate time blocks as needed
  • Maintain appropriate course records and documentation
  • Assess student learning
  • Identify barriers to student access and success and seek solutions
  • Implement assessment measures in compliance with state and federal policy to achieve learning outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge within teaching field
  • Incorporate pedagogies that support best learning practices
  • Maintain office hours

2. Support the goals and objectives of the college

  • Assist in meeting requirements for specific programs
  • Remain current in relevant areas
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and community members
  • Comply with college policies, rules, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field, or bachelor’s degree in engineering completed
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in education and the workplace

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing innovative assessment techniques and strategies for classroom assessment
  • Successful experience with non-traditional teaching methods and collaborative learning
Supplemental Information

Physical Work Environment: Positions require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and performing repetitive motions. Work is performed at the campus and local settings. Semi-sedentary work: exerting between 10-30 pounds occasionally or negligible force frequently to move objects.
