Assistant Teacher

Birch Tree Academy is a STEM-based preschool. We place an emphasis on academic development, discovery and exploration of science, building and everyday wonders.

Right now, we are looking for a floater teacher that has great enthusiasm, patience, and a caring, kind heart. He/she will collaborate with the lead teacher and lead the class in all ways.

• Help teach a class of 12 students
• Work a full-time schedule (40 hours a week)
• Help plan and teach daily activities and lessons that correspond with the curriculum
• Help promote multi-cultural education
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Help students learn classroom rules and procedures, as well as personal responsibility and respect for fellow students
• Use appropriate behavior management and classroom discipline
• Attend to children's basic needs which might include feeding them, dressing them, etc.
• Supervise class projects, field trips and visits by guest teachers
• Establish consistent communication with parents and children
• Write weekly class and individual student updates to parents

• Childcare experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Relevant teaching experience: 3 years (Preferred)

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience
• Must have CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
• Must have impeccable references and a proven track record of caring and nurturing children
• Must have excellent organizational skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 - $23.50 per hour
