Job Description

The Division of Orientation and Transition Programs seeks a Peer Coach Program Manager to lead the first‑year peer coaching program, support student success initiatives, and supervise 30-40 undergraduate peer coaches. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Peer Coaching and contributes to retention, belonging, and academic success for all first‑year students at the University of Washington Bothell.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop program goals, objectives, and design and implement peer coach programs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to engage in early alert interventions and risk management.
  • Manage peer coach utilization and data in Navigate, oversee caseload assignments, track appointment data, and ensure accurate session notes.
  • Monitor completion of alert cycles and prepare for emergencies.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and direct 30-40 peer coaches, including the creation of student‑run programs and events.
  • Develop, assess, and revise learning outcomes for student staff.
  • Serve as an instructor for the academic success course BCUSP 203 (once or twice per academic year), providing counseling and training on diversity, inclusion, and peer‑to‑peer facilitation.
  • Facilitate training and development of peer coaches each year.
  • Design and implement foundational financial literacy content, train coaches on delivery, and assess program effectiveness.
  • Serve on university committees and perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Peer Coaching.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in orientation or student retention services.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience with undergraduate student staff.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures to mitigate institutional and programmatic risk.
  • Demonstrated event planning, logistics, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across campus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard computer applications.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, diverse, and collaborative institutional environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field such as counseling, social work, or education.
  • Experience with leadership or peer coaching programming that emphasizes personal development and community building.
  • Experience developing and implementing assessment programs to identify needs and establish metrics for evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build programs and services that integrate stakeholder feedback related to student success and retention.
  • Experience or capacity to co‑teach a credit‑bearing course on student development theory and leadership for undergraduate students.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional evening and limited weekend commitments related to transitional programming.
  • Periods of intensive programming throughout the year, especially at the beginning of each quarter, may require additional hours beyond the normal work week.
About The Team

The Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP) team at the University of Washington Bothell supports new students as they transition into the university community through orientation experiences, first‑year coaching, and ongoing programming. OTP collaborates across campus to design inclusive, student‑centered programs that equip incoming students with the tools, resources, and connections needed to thrive at UWB.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range: $68,664.00 – $75,000.00 annual. Position is full‑time (100% FTE), regular. Hybrid work schedule: three days on‑site, two days remote.
