Title: Assistant Teaching Professor in Accounting

The School of Business at the University of Washington invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in Accounting, with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for a 9-month academic year, 3-year renewable appointment beginning September 16, 2027.

The Assistant Teaching Professor position is not eligible for tenure.

Teaching Responsibilities:
The position requires the teaching of eight courses over three academic quarters – Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Additional teaching opportunities may be available based on school need. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of accounting courses, depending on the program need, including a combination of courses in the accounting core (Financial Accounting, Cost and Managerial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Auditing and Tax) at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

The position will also require engagement and potential leadership in accounting curriculum design, AACSB and other accreditation and assessment of learning procedures. Teaching faculty in the accounting area are expected to stay informed and current about contemporary scholarly and professional research and recent publications in academic and professional journals and to engage in scholarly activities that met expectations laid out in the UW Faculty Code and the School of Business Guidelines for Teaching Professorial Faculty .

Service Responsibilities:
Besides engaging in usual committee and other service to the School of Business, the UWB campus, and the University expected of all full time UW faculty, the successful candidate are expected to teach and mentor and be open to a wide variety of student and alumni support activities including but not limited to serving as advisor of the Beta Alpha psi (BAP) Chapter, sustaining alumni relations through alumni events, on and off-campus interactions with alumni, and developing other external relationships with the accounting professions and employers.

Positive factors for consideration include, but not limited to, a Ph.D. in Accounting (or foreign equivalent); professional certifications, such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent, and/or relevant industry experience; and prior experience as a BAP advisor.

We are well known for its undergraduate, MBA, and MS Accounting programs, and enrollment has been growing at a fast pace. Located 15 miles northeast of downtown Seattle, we work closely with industry leaders as well as smaller, innovative, and rapidly growing companies in software, retail, medical equipment, biotechnology, electronics, and aerospace sectors and with a number of governmental agencies.

We have a Beta Alpha Psi Chapter and an Accounting Club for students who meet the academic requirements for admission to BAP but whose schedule may not permit them to satisfy the service requirements.
