Senior Mechanical Engineer (Contract for client)
Sigma Design has collaborated with a medical technology company seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Bothell, WA. This position is contract or contract‑to‑hire, with an expected duration of 4+ months. The role is in‑office.
Position Details- Multiple options for medical insurance and dental insurance including some with FSA and HSA

- Salary: $115,000–$160,000
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and integration of moderately complex systems or assemblies. This role sets technical direction within project scope, interfaces directly with customers, and contributes to planning and system architecture decisions.
Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities- Conceptualize and drive product development from ideation through production, providing system‑level vision and end‑to‑end problem solving for new projects.
- Design and refine multiple subsystems for the ST Product with focus on cost reduction, user interface improvements, and system‑level impacts.
- Perform advanced mechanical analyses, including structural validation of stand components and critical assemblies.
- Create production‑ready CAD models and detailed designs for supplier handoff with minimal oversight.
- Develop comprehensive test strategies, validation plans, and first‑article inspection documentation.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, external engineering resources, and manufacturing partners on component sourcing, specifications, and vendor qualification.
- Interface with clients and represent engineering in technical meetings.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated product solutions.
- Prototype and evaluate new technologies to enhance product performance and manufacturability.
- Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
(Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Expert CAD (Solid Works) and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage cross‑functional technical efforts.
- Clear written and verbal communication with customers.
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's work group.
- Experience working in an FDA‑regulated product development environment preferred.
- Proven ability to manage conflict constructively and build strong cross‑functional relationships.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- ITAR:
Must be a Permanent Resident of the United States (“U.S. person” as defined by ITAR), if applicable. - Background:
Must pass a post‑offer background verification.
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office‑related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
