The ideal candidate is a practical, solutions‑driven mechanical engineer who combines strong technical expertise with creativity, clear communication and the willingness to get hands‑on when a design needs to work in the real world.
ProductEngineer III Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for new products and product revisions
- Manage bills of materials, tolerances, specifications, and other engineering requirements for assigned products
- Evaluate and process Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders as products evolve or production issues arise
- Translate customer requirements and product concepts into reliable, cost‑effective and manufacturable designs
- Develop prototypes and conduct design validation and process validation testing
- Lead design for manufacturability and design for assembly reviews in partnership with manufacturing engineering
- Resolve design, processing and production challenges with minimal supervision
- Provide hands‑on engineering support to the production floor when components do not fit, tolerance stacks fail, or assembly problems occur
- Investigate nonconformances, scrap and quality escapes connected to product design
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for failures identified in production, testing or the field
- Develop test protocols, conduct testing and document results for pressure, load, material, environmental and cycle requirements
- Support product certification and compliance with applicable AWWA, NSF, ASTM and other industry standards
- Partner with Sales, Product Management, Manufacturing and Quality to balance customer needs, production capabilities and performance requirements
- Review supplier drawings, specifications and technical documentation for outsourced components
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through material substitutions, design simplification and other product improvements
- Manage the phase‑in and phase‑out of product variants, revisions and engineering changes
- Lead assigned engineering projects and define the appropriate technical approach
- Mentor and help supervise engineers or specialized technicians
- Support custom product designs by developing solutions that meet customer expectations while remaining practical for production
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- At least five years of mechanical product engineering experience within an industrial production or manufacturing environment
- Advanced experience with Solid Works, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Strong knowledge across multiple manufacturing disciplines such as rubber, fabrication, forming, coatings, castings, plastics or machining
- Proven experience creating production‑ready mechanical products and resolving complex design challenges
- Strong understanding of tolerances, engineering specifications, BOM management, prototyping, and product validation
- Excellent project management, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to develop creative solutions to difficult technical problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools in a hands‑on manufacturing environment
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Bothell, Washington
- Annual bonus targeted at 5% of salary
- Quarterly profit‑sharing opportunities
- Employer‑paid medical, dental and vision coverage for employees, with dependent coverage available
- 401(k) plan with a company match of $0.50 per $1 contributed on up to 6% of total pay
- Three weeks of accrued paid time off, with flexibility based on experience
- Paid company holidays
