Overview

Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $23.00

Job Status: Full Time

Work Base: Everett Area

Responsibilities

And Standards
  • Provides support to program participants that meets their needs, offers opportunities for community integration (including swimming), and creates a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
  • Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Provides each participant with an array of instructional and support services as described in the participants’ Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).
  • Ensures daily needs are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
  • Assists participants in regularly accessing the community and participating in outings of their choosing; may involve transporting participants or arranging transportation.
  • Ensures participants are treated with dignity and respect; promotes and safeguards each participant’s ability to make decisions and exercise rights.
  • Interacts with participants, provides informal counseling, and helps solve problems.
  • Attends staff meetings as required and completes agency-required trainings.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant.
  • May pursue Nurse Assistant Registered (NAR) certification at own expense initially and annually; must enroll and complete the Nurse Delegation study course and pass the test within 30 days of employment.
  • Provides necessary support and supervision of participants.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with other service providers, participants’ families/guardians, and agency staff; completes documentation timely (including medication logs, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle and be willing to transport clients in their own vehicle.
Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum Experience:

    Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, with challenging behaviors strongly preferred.
  • Minimum Driving

    Experience:

    Valid in-state driver’s license and ability to provide current car insurance.
