You follow detailed manufacturing work instructions and standard operating procedures, perform inspections and functional tests to verify quality conformance, and strictly adhere to safety protocols. The position requires strong hand-eye coordination, careful attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex manufacturing instructions and engineering drawings while working closely with manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and peers in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

+ Follow documented procedures such as Manufacturing Work Instructions, batch records, and standard operating procedures ranging from approximately 10 to 200 pages.

+ Assemble laboratory equipment and units using hand tools and lab tools provided, focusing on non-production-based lab equipment.

+ Perform inspections and functional tests on assembled units to verify quality conformance and ensure equipment operates according to specifications.

+ Interpret and work from complex manufacturing instructions, engineering drawings, and detailed documentation to complete builds accurately.

+ Apply aseptic techniques and good manufacturing practices (GMP) as required in a laboratory and production environment.

+ Support up to five non-production laboratory instruments and systems used in high-complex genetic research, including cell-based and sequencing-related equipment.

+ Troubleshoot equipment and assemblies by following defined parameters and SOPs, and identify issues requiring escalation.

+ Conduct root cause analysis on non-conformances or equipment issues in collaboration with quality and engineering teams.

+ Document production activities, testing results, and quality findings accurately, including basic non-conformance reports.

+ Use SAP or similar systems to complete and support documentation at the close of each day.

+ Work closely with quality personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards and to resolve basic non-conformance issues.

+ Communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, and manufacturing engineers to discuss complex situations and coordinate work.

+ Follow all safety protocols, including safe handling of chemicals and reagents, to maintain a safe working environment.

+ Participate in a structured onboarding process that includes buddy alignment, shadowing experienced team members, and progressing to supervised builds.

+ Contribute to a collaborative team environment, supporting an expanding team and helping to meet production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

+ Relevant associate degree or high school diploma.

+ 2-4 years of experience as a Manufacturing Technician or in a closely related manufacturing role.

+ Demonstrated good hand-eye coordination for precise assembly and handling of components.

+ Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive arm and wrist motions as part of daily tasks.

+ Ability to work directly with, handle, or come into contact with chemicals or reagents while following safety protocols.

+ Ability to understand and follow instructions, batch records, and documentation written and spoken in English.

+ Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with peers, supervisors, and manufacturing engineers.

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assembly, documentation, and testing.

+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply them to assembly and test activities.

+ Experience working in a production or laboratory environment that follows good manufacturing practices (GMP).

+ Ability to follow complex SOPs and parameters for equipment assembly and testing.

+ Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in production environments such as medical device manufacturing, aviation, or military settings.

+ Familiarity with laboratory environments, including aseptic techniques and cell culture or cell-based processes.

+ Experience working with laboratory equipment used in genetic research or sequencing applications.

+ Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and their application in regulated environments.

+ Exposure to SAP or similar enterprise systems for production and quality documentation.

+ Experience documenting basic non-conformance issues and working closely with quality teams.

+ Ability to talk through complex technical situations and communicate issues clearly for escalation and resolution.

+ Comfort working with detailed documentation sets, ranging from short instructions to lengthy technical manuals.

+ Interest in working within a high-complexity genetic research environment with advanced lab technologies.
