The Maintenance Technician supports the installation and relocation of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. The role provides hands‑on execution for laboratory and facility Site Minor Works, including equipment moves, decommissioning, and asset tracking, while coordinating contractors, vendors, and site support teams. The position maintains equipment and asset records, supports compliance and safety requirements, and keeps stakeholders informed from project intake through closeout.

• Escort, hand‑move, unpack, install, and remove laboratory and facility equipment.
• Assess site preparation requirements and connect utilities, including electrical, gas, water, and data, for new and relocated instrumentation.
• Coordinate relocation logistics and perform pre‑move documentation and decontamination procedures for laboratory equipment moves.
• Safely disconnect, transport, and reinstall sensitive instrumentation, and confirm equipment function after each move.
• Evaluate equipment condition for disposal decisions and execute decontamination and decommissioning procedures in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Coordinate equipment disposal or surplus through the appropriate channel, including recycling, hazardous waste, and remarketing.
• Tag, photograph, document, and gather all required data for laboratory equipment, and remove retired instruments from asset management systems.
• Track equipment performance metrics, monitor service histories, and maintain comprehensive asset records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Provide technical input for replacement planning and capital budgeting based on equipment condition and performance data.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and coordinate with external service vendors when specialized support is needed.
• Support and coordinate with contractors on activities impacting lab space, and communicate operational updates to stakeholders.
• Maintain installation records, move logs, retirement certificates, maintenance histories, manuals, and asset tracking information.
• Maintain safe handling practices throughout all equipment installation, move, and retirement activities.

• Laboratory and facility equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, modifications, and retirements.
• Utility connections supporting laboratory and facility equipment, including electrical, gas, water, and data.
• Contractor coordination, site access planning, and required escorts.
• Equipment decommissioning, disposal, and surplus coordination, including recycling, hazardous waste, and remarketing channels.
• Asset data coordination needed to preserve record integrity and CMMS compliance.
• Move documentation, decontamination procedures, and post‑move confirmation.

• Associate degree or technical certification in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, mechanical systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
