Lab Services (GXP) Media Prep Technician – JLL

As a Lab Services Media Prep Technician, you'll serve as a critical support partner to research operations by ensuring the timely preparation, sterilization, and delivery of chemical and biological media essential to laboratory experiments. This role requires strict attention to safety, quality, and GXP compliance while managing the complete lifecycle of media orders—from precise calculations and documentation to autoclaving, labeling, and delivery.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you'll maintain sterile operations, manage inventory, and adapt to changing operational priorities. Your meticulous work directly enables research staff to conduct experiments safely and efficiently, making you an essential contributor to laboratory operations and overall business success.

Prepare chemical and biological media orders from start to finish, including performing accurate calculations, completing required documentation, autoclaving, proper labeling, and timely delivery of sensitive formulations critical to research activities.

Sterilize laboratory materials including glassware, media containers, bioreactors, protective clothing, and other equipment required for sterile operations using established procedures and safety protocols.

Neutralize, disassemble, clean, and reassemble bioreactors according to standard operating procedures to prepare them for subsequent research use.

Fulfill buffer and media requests, coordinate waste removal services, maintain supply inventory levels, and initiate reordering processes to prevent operational interruptions.

Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding supply stock levels, material needs, equipment calibrations, software upgrades, deviations, scheduling changes, and operational concerns.

Execute both written standard operating procedures (SOPs) and verbal instructions with strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, GXP documentation requirements, and Lean 6S principles.

Support other lab services operations as directed by management, demonstrating flexibility and collaborative teamwork to achieve departmental and company objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey driver's license and willingness to complete appropriate training for vehicles utilized in the role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in following written SOPs with strict attention to detail, safety protocols, and quality standards in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to work safely with chemical and biological materials while maintaining sterile conditions and adhering to GXP compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with research staff, supervisors, and team members regarding schedules, materials, and operational requirements.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work schedules and priorities as determined by operations management.
  • Commitment to strict adherence to all federal, state, and local laboratory regulations and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory services, media preparation, or GXP-regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with autoclave operation, sterilization techniques, and aseptic practices.
  • Knowledge of bioreactor systems, cleaning procedures, and equipment maintenance protocols.
