Typical

Responsibilities Include:
  • Supporting the lead instructor in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings.
  • Provide instruction and remediation to students in the clinical practice/laboratory setting in support of program faculty and curriculum.
  • Provide individual and group tutoring in support of program faculty and program curriculum.
  • Perform and grade competency/practical testing in laboratory and clinical settings.
  • Assist faculty in simulation competencies and/or demonstrations.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment and materials for labs.
  • Support faculty in preparation of equipment and materials for clinical practice settings, such as:
  • Monitor the safety and condition of equipment
  • Monitor and organize the inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Provide basic maintenance of equipment
  • Collect and maintain data related to program assessment for college and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist Clinical Coordinator with site visits.
Required Qualifications Include:
  • Minimum of an associate degree in surgical technology. Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ working experience in the operating room in the scrub role or as an instructor in a surgical technology program or a combination of both, within the last five years.
  • Must have current knowledge of the surgical technology, strong communication and organization skills, along with the ability to think critically and make decisions.
  • Must hold current credentials in the field of surgical technology through a nationally certified and accredited program by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
