Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

DescriptionTo assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program including planning, coaching, and recruiting. Will be responsible for coordinating onside of the field as well as two specialty positions. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the head coach in managing and directing the program.
- Educates and mentors student athletes in all aspects of their holistic development; mind, body and spirit.
- Assists the head coach with all aspects of the program including training, competing and scheduling.
- Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements.
- Assists in the completion and processing of paperwork as requested.
- Assists with recruiting, including contacting prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining accurate records and data bases on the NCAA Compliance Assistant program.
- Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, coaches, the media and the general public.
- Responsible for abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as educating student-athletes about those rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Vice President/Director of Athletics.
- Failure to comply by NCAA II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
- Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition. Must also possess the following:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
Work Experience:
At least 3 years' experience in the sport of Men's College Lacrosse, including playing and/or coaching. Other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.
Skills and abilities:
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
Word, Excel, Outlook
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, indoor and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height;
and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. - Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
