Part-Time Instructor for Emergency Services
Stark State College is seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time instructor to join our Emergency Services department. The successful candidate will contribute to the college's commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement.

Typical
Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver firefighter instruction in accordance with Stark State College Department of Emergency Services guidelines, the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), and Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) requirements.
- Prepare for classroom and practical training sessions by reviewing assigned topics, developing lesson plans that incorporate ODPS curriculum objectives, and utilizing appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning.
- Employ effective teaching strategies to facilitate classroom discussions, hands-on training, and student engagement while demonstrating thorough knowledge of subject matter at the Ohio Firefighter II certification level.
- Assess student performance fairly and consistently, monitor student progress, and communicate progress updates to the Fire Program Coordinator.
- Foster a positive learning environment by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of students, while encouraging feedback through instructor evaluations.
- Participate in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement by collaborating with the Program Director, Fire Program Coordinator, and fellow instructors to review and update curriculum, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain all required firefighter training certifications and comply with the rules, policies, and procedures of Stark State College and the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
- Maintain training vehicles, tools, equipment, and instructional resources in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
Required Qualifications Include:
- A valid Ohio driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Current Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II certification from the state of Ohio.
- Current Firefighter II Certification from the state of Ohio.
