Position Overview:

As an intern within our Global Metallurgical Quality team, your responsibilities will vary based on the specific department you are placed in. Our internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to work on projects that impact the business and drive value across the function.

During this internship, students will gain meaningful and translatable experiences through value‑added assignments as an active member of our quality and materials team. Additionally, you will receive mentorship and guidance from leaders across the Timken organization. Projects for the summer could include:
Physical Testing of steel related material properties based on solidification methods, applying non‑destructive evaluation methods for surface inspection and thermal treatment properties, using microscopic techniques in qualification of aerospace related materials, and working with manufacturing plants on process improvements and technical support.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a current Sophomore or Junior, enrolled in a full‑time Bachelor’s degree program (12 semester/credit hours) at an accredited four‑year university.
  • Must be enrolled in one of the following majors:
    Material Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, or related major.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
