Onsite in North Canton, OH Salary: $90-140k DOE Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, implement, and commission industrial control systems for manufacturing and process automation. The role focuses on PLC/HMI programming, panel design, VFD and motion control integration, and network communications (Device Net, Profibus, Ethernet). You will work across project phases from requirements and design through testing, commissioning and handover while ensuring compliance with NEC and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop and document electrical control systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical and CAD tools. Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs with emphasis on Allen-Bradley (RSLogix/Studio 5000) and Siemens (TIA Portal) platforms. Integrate and commission AC frequency drives (VFDs) and motor drive systems, including motion control applications. Design and implement industrial networks and fieldbus configurations such as Device Net, Profibus and Ethernet, and ensure reliable communications using tools like RSLinx.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical/control issues during commissioning and production support; provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Ensure designs meet NEC requirements, safety standards and company engineering practices; participate in design reviews and risk assessments. Collaborate with mechanical, controls and project management teams to meet scope, schedule and budget; mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation systems, or electrical design. Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI platforms, specifically Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000) and Rockwell products, and Siemens (TIA Portal, ideally Version 13). Proven experience with VFDs/AC Frequency Drives, motion control systems, and integrating drives with PLCs. Solid knowledge of industrial communication protocols:
Device Net, Profibus and Ethernet. Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and general CAD tools for panel design and schematic creation. Familiarity with NEC code requirements is preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
