Interpreter 3

The Interpreter 3 position at Stark State College plays a crucial role in facilitating communication for deaf or hard of hearing students by providing sign language interpreting for college classes and other college related activities. The interpreter serves as a liaison between deaf or hard of hearing students, instructors/faculty, staff, and hearing students.

  • You have the ability to interpret and facilitate communication for deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • You have the comfort and ability to communicate with instructors and/or staff about the role of interpreting in providing access for deaf or hard of hearing students.
  • You have the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students and College employees.
  • You have experience working with a diverse population of individuals.

Typical

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing interpreting for the deaf or hard of hearing students for college classes and other college-related activities.
  • Interpret lectures, discussions, conversations, meetings, events, tutoring sessions, etc.

To Be Considered You'll Need:

  • A minimum of an associate's degree;
  • A minimum of two years of experience interpreting for the deaf in an educational setting; and
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications include a minimum of two years of interpreting experience in a college or university environment and certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
