Electro/Mechanical Technician
Job Description
This Electro/Mechanical Technician role focuses on performing routine maintenance and inspections on mechanical and electrical equipment and facility systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. The technician ensures reliable operation of machinery, minimizes unplanned downtime, and helps extend equipment life by following established preventative maintenance schedules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation.
+ Inspect machinery and facility systems for wear, damage, or potential issues and report findings promptly.
+ Troubleshoot minor mechanical and electrical problems on equipment such as motors, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and related systems.
+ Use basic electrical troubleshooting tools, including multimeters, to diagnose issues with motors, wiring, sensors, and voltage.
+ Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, diagrams, and maintenance procedures to complete repair and maintenance tasks correctly.
+ Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including entries in maintenance tracking or CMMS systems when applicable.
+ Follow all safety procedures and maintenance processes, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and applicable safety standards, to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Assist with identifying recurring equipment issues and participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
+ Support planned maintenance shutdowns by performing assigned tasks efficiently and coordinating with production and maintenance teams.
+ Respond to production needs and equipment issues as required to minimize downtime and maintain consistent plant operations.
+ Collaborate with other technicians, operators, and supervisors to share information on equipment performance and maintenance needs.
+ Handle hydraulic and pneumatic components as needed, including basic troubleshooting and maintenance of these systems.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with facility standards and safety guidelines.
Essential Skills
+ 1-3 years of maintenance, mechanical, or related experience in an industrial, plant, production, or manufacturing environment.
+ Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and related components.
+ Basic electrical skills, including the ability to work with motors, wiring, sensors, voltage, and to use a multimeter for electrical troubleshooting.
+ Ability to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and follow established PM schedules and routine equipment maintenance procedures.
+ Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and follow detailed maintenance procedures.
+
Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and minor electrical issues on industrial equipment.
+ Familiarity with safety and maintenance processes, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.
+ Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
+ Comfort working in an industrial or manufacturing environment with production equipment and facility systems.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with PLC-controlled equipment; familiarity with Omron PLCs is a plus.
+ Familiarity with hydraulic systems, including basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
+ Familiarity with pneumatic systems, including basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
+ Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or other maintenance tracking systems.
+ Knowledge of general safety practices and maintenance processes commonly used in industrial environments.
+ Strong communication skills to clearly document work and coordinate with maintenance and production teams.
+ Ability to adapt to changing priorities, such as responding to urgent equipment issues or production needs.
+ Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial manufacturing setting that involves working around production machinery and facility systems. The position may require overtime, weekend work, or shift work to support production schedules and maintenance shutdowns. The technician must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks in physically demanding conditions, which may include standing for extended periods, climbing, bending, and working in confined or elevated areas.
