North Canton, OH Salary: $85-120k DOE Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, ensure product quality, and support the design and implementation of fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing methods. The role focuses on precision manufacturing (tolerances to 0.0001"), root cause analysis, and collaboration with OEMs, operations, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and efficient, repeatable production.
Key Responsibilities Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for machining and assembly to meet production, quality, and cost targets. Design and validate fixtures, jigs, and tooling; support Tool and Die development and maintenance. Program, specify, and optimize grinding, turning, and milling operations for repeatability and precision. Define and control tolerances (including work to 0.0001"), perform tolerance testing, and ensure conformance through measurement and inspection plans.
Use AutoCAD and Solid Works to produce and revise manufacturing drawings, tooling designs, and process documentation. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to drawings and inspection criteria. Lead root cause analysis (8D/FMEA) and corrective action for production quality issues; implement countermeasures and verify effectiveness. Collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and qualify new parts and processes.
Create work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training for production personnel. Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, improve throughput, and lower costs. Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in precision machining or tooling environments. Proven experience with fixture design, Tool and Die concepts, and production tooling. Practical experience with grinding, turning, and milling processes and machine shop operations.
Demonstrated capability controlling tolerances to 0.0001" and performing tolerance testing and metrology. Experience working with OEMs and supporting supplier quality/part qualification. Strong root cause analysis skills (8D, FMEA) and track record implementing corrective actions. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Works for part, tooling and fixture design. Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Familiarity with CNC programming, inspection equipment (CMM, micrometers, indicators), and manufacturing metrics.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to lead projects and work in a fast-paced production environment.
