North Canton, OH Salary: $130-160k DOE Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Manager to lead day-to-day production and operations in a build-to-order manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for planning and executing production schedules, optimizing processes, managing machine shop and assembly operations, overseeing maintenance, and ensuring product quality, on-time delivery and cost control. This role requires strong technical knowledge (blueprint reading, machine shop practices), financial acumen, and proven experience improving operational procedures and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations, including machine shop, assembly, and maintenance teams to meet production schedules and quality standards. Plan, schedule and coordinate build-to-order production to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources. Identify, design and implement process improvements (Lean, Kaizen, continuous improvement) to increase throughput, reduce waste and lower production costs. Develop, document and maintain operational procedures, standard work and safety protocols to ensure consistent, safe manufacturing practices.
Monitor and report manufacturing KPIs; analyze performance data to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement. Manage budgets and contribute to financial planning; review and interpret financial statements to improve cost control and profitability. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications; ensure production aligns with design and quality requirements. Oversee preventive maintenance programs and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Collaborate with sales, engineering and customer service to resolve order issues, communicate status and maintain strong customer relations. Hire, coach and develop manufacturing staff; set performance goals, conduct reviews and maintain a skilled, flexible workforce. Work with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of materials, tooling and subcontracted services. Lead root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality systems and internal audits. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in build-to-order production. Proven track record in process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) and implementing operational best practices.
Experience reading and applying blueprints, engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications. Strong familiarity with machine shop operations, assembly processes and maintenance planning. Ability to review and act on financial statements and manufacturing budgets to drive cost and profitability improvements. Excellent customer relations and communication skills; experience coordinating with sales and customer service teams. Hands-on problem-solving skills and practical manufacturing experience; comfort working on the shop floor.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, production scheduling tools and basic data analysis. Demonstrated leadership abilities, team-building skills and experience developing technical staff. Strong knowledge of safety, quality and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting. Lean, Six Sigma, PMP or related certifications are a plus.
