CNC Programmer

North Canton, OH Pay: $27-35 per hour depending on experience Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented CNC Programmer to create, optimize, and maintain CNC machining programs for our production team. The ideal candidate will translate engineering drawings into efficient G&M code and CAM toolpaths, set up and validate programs on lathes and mills, and collaborate with machinists and engineers to improve part quality, cycle time, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G&M codes for mills and lathes to meet print specifications and production goals. Generate and validate CAM toolpaths using CAM software; create post-processed code for target machine controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens). Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models (AutoCAD, Solid Works), and GD&T requirements to produce accurate machining instructions. Select appropriate cutting tools, tooling setups, speeds and feeds;
create and maintain tooling lists and setup sheets. Conduct machine simulations and dry-runs to verify program accuracy and prevent collisions or errors before production. Support machine setup, first-piece inspections, and on-floor troubleshooting with machinists to refine programs and processes. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times, scrap, and tooling costs while maintaining part quality. Maintain program documentation, revision control, and communicate changes to production and engineering teams.
Adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and company manufacturing procedures. Qualifications Proven experience as a CNC Programmer or similar role with hands-on programming of CNC mills and lathes. Strong working knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Solid Works for reading and manipulating part models. Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, fixturing, speeds/feeds, and tooling selection. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T strong attention to detail and measurement skills.
