Operations Manager / Superintendent

Summer Help employees assist with a variety of manual labor and support tasks across municipal departments during the summer season. Work includes outdoor maintenance, facility support, and assistance with infrastructure-related projects. Employees are expected to work safely, follow instructions, and provide dependable support to City operations.

(Applicable to all assignments)

• Perform general labor tasks, including lifting, digging, loading/unloading materials, and using hand tools
• Assist full-time staff with maintenance and repair activities
• Maintain the cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and facilities
• Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers
• Interact professionally with the public
• Perform related duties as assigned

• Minimum age: 18 years old
• Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license required

• Willingness to learn and follow safety practices
• Dependability and punctuality
• Basic communication skills
• Ability to use hand tools safely

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Exposure to noise, dirt, traffic, and equipment

The Summer Help/Casual Labor position runs for approximately 12 weeks, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with required weekends for the Parks/Lands & Buildings Department and occasional weekends for the remaining departments.
