Quality Engineering Technician

The Quality Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting product quality, safety compliance, and manufacturing consistency throughout the product lifecycle. This hands-on technical role bridges production, quality, and engineering to ensure products meet internal specifications and external regulatory standards. The position focuses on inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, while also supporting customer-related quality issues, product validation activities, and ISO-based quality programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and validation activities to ensure products meet established quality and safety standards throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support compliance with applicable safety standards such as UL, VDE, CSA, and TÜV by conducting tests, maintaining documentation, and participating in audits.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Production teams to ensure product designs are manufacturable and aligned with existing processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing product changes, revisions, and new components to confirm quality, fit, and compatibility with current manufacturing capabilities.
  • Work with Quality and Production teams to verify that materials, components, and finished goods meet internal specifications and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain functions to assess supplier quality, capabilities, and incoming material standards, and to support supplier-related quality initiatives.
  • Support customer product evaluations and technical inquiries, and assist in analyzing returns and quality issues to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform and support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product or process issues, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in new product introduction (NPI) activities, including lab testing, first article inspections, and product validation to ensure readiness for production.
  • Maintain accurate and organized quality documentation, test records, inspection reports, and audit-related materials in line with ISO best practices.
  • Identify and propose opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturability, and process efficiency across production and quality operations.
  • Participate in internal audits, contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and help maintain audit documentation and management records.
  • Support preparation for external audits and assist in presenting quality systems, documentation, and compliance evidence to external auditors.
  • Help manage paper-based documentation workflows and support the transition to digital systems by maintaining clear paper trails and process records.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in a quality, manufacturing, or lab/testing environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting production, quality inspection, or product validation processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams that include engineering, production, and quality.
  • Proficiency in quality control and quality assurance practices within a manufacturing or testing setting.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis for product or process issues.
  • Understanding of ISO standards and ISO-based quality management systems.
  • Ability to assess supplier quality, capabilities, and incoming material standards.
  • Experience participating in internal audits and supporting audit activities.
  • Ability to support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and follow through on action plans.
  • Strong documentation skills for maintaining test records, inspection reports, and audit-related materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining audit documentation and management records in an ISO-focused environment.
  • Preparing for and presenting during external audits with customers or regulatory bodies.
  • Familiarity with managing paper-based documentation workflows and supporting transitions to digital quality systems.
  • Knowledge of supplier relationship management from a quality perspective, including feedback and corrective actions.
  • Comfort working with lab equipment and inspection tools in a manufacturing or testing environment.
  • A bachelor's degree is not required; relevant industry experience can be considered equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing, inspection, and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, quality, purchasing, and supply chain teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement in product quality and process efficiency.
