Missions
The large oceanic peat bogs on the Atlantic coast (Brière Marsh, Cotentin and Bessin Marshes, Poitou Marsh, Audomarois Marsh, Marshes of the Seine and Somme Valleys…) are wetlands of international importance for their biodiversity. They also store a significant amount of carbon in their peat soils. However, the natural processes of carbon sequestration in these peat soils are still poorly understood.
The Regional Nature Park (PNR) of Brière is therefore conducting a research project in collaboration with the University of Rennes, Saint-Nazaire Agglomération, EDF and the PNR of the Marshes of Cotentin and Bessin to improve knowledge and understanding of the functioning of these marshes in terms of carbon sequestration. The project aims to study the relationships between the different compartments (Water / Soil / Atmosphere / Vegetation) and to model carbon and methane fluxes with the installation of measurement stations (Eddy-covariance and meteorological), a network of probes and piezometers.
The main mission of the technician will be to: ensure the maintenance of equipment (in liaison with suppliers, contractors): control, monitoring, maintenance, diagnosis of malfunctions or breakdowns, collect and transmit the data collected to the university partners, carry out sampling and participate in ecological monitoring (water, soils, vegetation).
In support of the head of the pole, project manager, he/she will: follow the research partnerships with the universities and facilitate their interventions on the territory, contribute to the communication around the project (written publication, oral, event…), participate in the coordination of the project (preparation of copil instances, cotech, scientific council, partners committee), participate in technical and financial reporting.
