Summary
This position reports to the Accounting and Office Manager. The incumbent’s key function is responsible for day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, banking transactions, reconciliations, and operations of cash management, and performing professional accounting tasks at a College level within the Division of Financial Services.

- Verify invoices and electronic charges for accuracy and process for payment
- Monitor and reconcile the College’s online credit card accounts
- Be responsible for processing electronic charges, direct deposits, and maintaining systems necessary to operate current age online business banking
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations
- Perform accounting functions necessary to maintain the student accounting system and financial accounting management information system
- Prepare and enter journal entries and other necessary entries into the financial accounting system regularly for monthly and year‑end closings
- Provide information on revenues, expenditures, and account balances to college faculty, staff, and outside agencies (Title III, Title IV Federal Funds, Budget/Expense Reports, Cash Reports, etc.)
- Process monthly and annual reports, such as 1098T, 1099, and sales & use tax
- Assist with other duties and projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager
- BA/BS in Accounting, Business, or relevant field
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Must be able to make independent and informed accounting decisions based upon generally accepted accounting principles and perform these functions in multiple and varied accounting systems
- Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
- Experience with MS Office
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Three (3–5) years of experience in accounts payable and cash management, fund accounting, and contracts
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess errors and assist in maintaining compliance
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well independently
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations (IRS, Sales & Use Tax), some accounting, and higher education experience in this area is much preferred
- Experience with Quick Books or other higher education software
The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Onsite. Scheduled work hours may change or vary from time to time based on institutional need; including added evening hours and/or weekend work as needed.
